Diljit Dosanjh donated Rs 1 crore to buy winter-wear for protesting farmers: Punjabi singer Singga – Times of India
This detail was made public by Punjabi singer Singga on his Instagram Stories. The star revealed that the actor made the generous donation and chose not to make a “big deal” out of it. The money will reportedly be used to buy woollen clothes and blankets for the elderly farmers who are currently braving the harsh winter in the national capital to continue their protest against the farm laws.
He ended his video with a message of gratitude that read, “Big Thanks @diljitdosanjh.”
Diljit was in the news the past couple of days for his Twitter war with actress Kangana Ranaut. The actor won over fans and fellow netizens with his tactful replies to all of the actress’ posts.
#DiljitVSKangana, #DiljitDestroysKangana and many other such topics have taken over top trends on the micro-blogging site days after their spat. According to reports, Diljit’s tweets defending the farmer’s protests, not only won hearts but also won him over 4 lakh, new followers, on social media.
The actor came into the scene on Thursday when he criticised Kangana for misidentifying an elderly woman, who had joined the farmers’ protest, as Bilkis Bano of the Shaheen Bagh protest. He also shared a video of the elderly lady in question, revealing that she was Mahinder Kaur.
Although Kangana had deleted her post, she hit out at Diljit, calling him filmmaker Karan Johar‘s “pet.” While the actress had her loyal fans lending their support, Diljit received added backing from celebrities, Twitter users and fans.
Ranaut, on the other hand, has been slapped with a legal notice for her post that has been viewed as ‘derogatory’. Besides that, another even filed a writ petition in the Bombay High Court seeking direction to get her Twitter account suspended.
