Exclusive: Aamir Khan’s son Junaid’s role in Malayalam ‘Ishq’ remake to be done by Ritwik Bhowmik? – Times of India
It seems Junaid will definitely be launched by Yash Raj Films and an official announcement in that regard may soon be in the offing.
Now, if all goes well, Ritwik Bhowmik might star in the Hindi version of ‘Ishq’. There is no hardcore confirmation yet that Ritwik is getting into Junaid’s shoes per se, but it strongly appears so. Rumour mills are agog that the film’s producer Neeraj Pandey has been quite impressed by Ritwik’s performance in the recent web series ‘Bandish Bandits’.
Ritwik had made his acting debut with the web show ‘Office vs Office’ in 2017 and trained himself in his initial days at Anupam Kher‘s ‘Actor Prepares’.
The film in question is going to be directed by Shashant Shah, who has endorsed Neeraj’s choice. Shashant has earlier directed Dasvidaniya, Bajatey Raho and Chalo Dilli.
Our source also says, “The film may not be an exact replica of the Malayalam one. However, all those details are being still worked out which includes the modalities.”
Neeraj Pandey and Shashant Shah remained unavailable for comment.
Not too long ago, Aamir had spoken to PTI about Junaid’s career plans saying, “It is up to him (about making his film debut). He should lead his own life and take his own decisions. I don’t want to take it for him. I have left it all to him. He certainly has an inclination towards the creative world and towards filmmaking. He is following his path, he has studied theatre. He is actually more interested in theatre than films. I am allowing him to go and find his own path. That’s how it should be. He is very bright.”
Previously, Junaid had worked as an Assistant Director in Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘PK’.
