Exclusive: Kumar Sanu tests positive for COVID-19 – Times of India

Renowned singer Kumar Sanu aka Kedarnath Bhattacharaya has tested positive for COVID -19. The singer was supposed to leave for Los Angeles on October 14, to meet his family.

In a recent chat with Bombay Times, the singer who had been working consistently throughout the lockdown, told us that he would be travelling to Los Angeles to be with his family after a long gap of nine months.

“I have been eagerly waiting to be with my wife Saloni, daughter Shannon and Annabel for a long time and now finally, I will be spending my birthday, October 20, with them,” he had said.

The singer had also said that he would be back to work in Mumbai, after celebrating his wife’s birthday in early December.

However, now, he has had to cancel his much-awaited visit after he tested positive for COVID-19.

Sources say that the BMC sealed the floor he stays in as a mandatory precautionary measure.

His LA-based wife Saloni, told Bombay Times, “He will come to the US on Nov 8 if he feels alright by then. Right now he is under the mandatory quarantine. He has been craving to meet us for last nine months.”

She added, “If he is unable to travel later, then his family will come down Mumbai to celebrate all the upcoming festivals with him…”

The singer had also told us that he was gearing up to celebrate Durga Puja in LA. The true-blue Bong that he is, this festival means a tremendous lot to Sanu Da.

“Durga Puja is one of the main and biggest festivals for us Bengalis. In LA also puja is held, though this year I don’t know what the situation will be. Me along with my wife and two daughters, we will all go to the Puja that is held near the place where I live in LA. I am looking forward to a fabulous quality time spent with my daughters and my wife Saloni after nine long months,” he had told us a few days ago.

Kumar Sanu sure isn’t your regular Bollywood playback singer – as many as 25 of his tracks feature in BBC’s ‘Top 40 Bollywood Soundtracks of all time’ and he has belted out over 21,000 songs in 30 languages. In the year 1993, he had created a world record that still remains unbeaten and he features in the Guinness Book for recording 28 songs in a single day.
