Sunil Gavaskar controversy: Kangana Ranaut comes out in support of Anushka Sharma but accuses her of “selective feminism” – Times of India

Kangana Ranaut criticised former Indian cricket team captain Sunil Gavaskar for dragging Anushka Sharma‘s name in his commentary during a recent cricket tournament. He faced the ire on social media for a remark he made on Anushka helping Virat Kohli with his practice during the lockdown.

Condemning Gavaskar’s comments, Kangana tweeted, “#Anushka remained quiet when I was threatened and called Haramkhor but today the same misogyny coming to bite her, I condemn the fact that she was dragged into cricket by #SunilGavaskar but selective feminism is equally uncool.” (sic)

Meanwhile, in an interview, Gavaskar clarified that Virat had no practice due to lockdown and the only practice that the Indian skipper had when he was seen playing with Anushka in their building compound where the actress was bowling to him.

Sunil said that he didn’t blame the actress for Virat’s performance in the recent tournament. He even said that he was not being sexist and his comments were misinterpreted.
